Jessica Chastain was born with naturally red hair and she is awfully proud of it. She has commented that she did not particularly like it when she was small as it made it different. But now, she is more comfortable with her hair and wears her luscious red mane like a badge of honor.

Jessica Chastain is reluctant to date fellow actors. She does not like the attention it brings to the relationship and in her own words, “puts a magnifying glass on you”. She believes that fame comes to you if you date famous people but she also says that she is not interested nor excited by fame. She has been dating fashion executive Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo since 2012 and she says that she is in it for the long haul.

Jessica Chastain is a vegan! In Ellen DeGeneres in 2013, Chastain claimed that she had been vegetarian for 15 years until she finally became vegan in 2007. However for her role as Celia Foote in “The Help,” it was necessary for her to gain weight and it was difficult for her to do on a vegan diet. Jessica had to resort to drinking soya ice cream melted in the microwave in order to put on the pounds that are necessary for the role.

Jessica thanks her grandmother Marilyn Herst, for inspiring her to take up acting as her career. Jessica was only 7 when her grandmother took her to see David Cassidy in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”. It was here when Jessica saw a girl her age acting as the narrator that she knew what her life’s calling was. Not having done well in the public school system, the moment she saw the little girl she knew what she wanted to do. She believes this to be her ‘aha!’ moment.

During the summer stock production of Chekhov’s “The Cherry Orchard” Michelle Williams and Jessica Chastain ended up as roommates and went on to cherish a bond that she described as “like sisters”. It was a stroke of fate when both actresses got nominated for Oscars together in 2012 – Michelle for Best Actress for her work in “My Week with Marilyn” and Jessica for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “The Help.”
